Membership in Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. offers women the opportunity to join a distinguished sisterhood committed to scholarship, service, leadership, and lifelong personal growth. Through meaningful community engagement, professional development, and lasting sisterhood, our members continue building upon a legacy dedicated to uplifting communities and advancing Greater Service, Greater Progress.
The Sorority welcomes new members at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Local chapters publicize membership opportunities and host informational sessions where prospective members can learn about the sorority’s history, values, expectations, and membership intake process.
Qualifications
Women seeking graduate membership must hold a degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Undergraduate membership is available to women enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university, or in a qualifying transfer program with the intent to earn a degree from a four-year institution. Candidates may be considered for membership after successfully completing one academic term and must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Membership is by invitation and granted through Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.’s official membership intake process. Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and receive the required approval of the chapter to which they have applied.

Steeped in sisterhood, scholarship, and service, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was founded on November 12, 1922, at Butler University by seven pioneering educators.
Today, it is an international organization that celebrates achievement and advances meaningful change through leadership and community engagement—cultivating women of purpose who lead with excellence and compassion.

Established on November 3, 1990, in Chevy Chase, Maryland, the Eta Iota Sigma Alumnae Chapter is anchored in the principles of sisterhood, scholarship, and service.
Today, those values continue to guide our commitment to leadership, meaningful service, and lifelong sisterhood.
